(NC)—Economists are widely reporting that while the economy is experiencing a downtown, Canadians aren't giving up the creature comforts within their homes as readily as you might expect.
In fact, according to a recent Ipsos Reid poll commissioned by Rogers, 49% of Canadians report that they would not be able to live without their cable or satellite subscription if forced to cut back on the amount of money they spend on entertainment during an economic decline.
“When you couple that with the fact that 27 percent of people who own an HDTV are actually watching more TV than they did last year, its a strong indication that not only do Canadians love their TV because of the drastically improved picture quality, but the whole HD ecosystem – which encompasses HD content, electronics and services – is bringing new value into the living room for families,” said Andy Walker, executive producer of technology learning site butterscotch.com.
When it comes to HDTV it's not just the brilliant image that has Canadians hooked, it's also the quality of programs that can be watched. “The viewing choices, of course, are the best part,” said David Purdy, Vice President, Video Product Management, Rogers Cable. “HDTV programming is no longer just sports events and nature flicks, now you can watch hundreds of programs and the majority of your favourite primetime shows in HD anytime you want. Get this great entertainment value for less than $2 a day.”
