Will you be affected by the digital television transition?

(NC)—Canada and the U.S. are both making moves toward digital television, or DTV. After August 31, 2011, all signals broadcast over the air in Canada will be in digital only format. The United States will be doing the same earlier, on February 17, 2009. So what will you need to do? Once the transition takes place, Canadians with analog televisions, using over-the-air signals, will have to add a digital-to analog converter box, or use a television with a digital tuner built in to continue to view over the air broadcasts. However, Canadians who already have televisions with a digital tuner should see no change. The same is true for cable and satellite subscribers.
