How to file an effective consumer complaint

(NC)—We've all been at the receiving end of poor customer service, a product that won't work, guarantees that aren't honoured or prices that seem too high. How you file your consumer complaint is almost as important as the actual complaint itself. Industry Canada has produced an interactive, online tool to walk consumers through the necessary steps of launching an effective consumer complaint – assessing your complaint, understanding your rights and responsibilities, contacting the business by phone, e-mail, face-to-face or through a third party such as a lawyer. Each step should be taken slowly and with careful consideration. There's even a tutorial to help you get started. You can find the Complaint Courier at www.ConsumerInformation.ca.
