Looking to make money and make a difference?

(NC)—Today's youth are expected to be full-time students, hold part-time jobs, and participate in volunteer activities. Many high school students are required to complete a certain number of community service hours in order to even graduate. In fact, a growing percentage of youth in general are making the personal choice to volunteer with local organizations.

Typical volunteer opportunities include time helping local schools, senior citizens' groups, literacy programs and various environmental efforts. These activities not only allow youth to support their communities, they have the added benefit of helping them become better-rounded individuals.

The busy schedules facing these civic-minded young people often don't allow time for both paid and unpaid work. As a result, they may make a special effort to find paid work with a company that also offers opportunities to give back to the community.

Looking for companies that have established charity partners, like McDonald's and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) for example, is a great place to start. This partnership allows McDonald's employees to participate in fundraising initiatives that support RMHC and other local children's charities.

One such initiative, McHappy Day, is one of the largest and most successful children's fundraising campaigns in Canada. This national fundraiser see McDonald's employees across the country join together with community members, customers and special guests to raise money to help children in need.

Employers that provide jobs with built in volunteer opportunities can make great options for busy students looking to make money and make a difference.
